The Coos County Cultural Coalition held an awards ceremony on Monday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. at the Coos Art Museum in downtown Coos Bay.
The individuals and organizations who received funds are:
Coos Bay writer Shinan Barclay, $453 toward reprinting of her book "Flowering Woman: Moontime for Kory" for adolescent girls.
Coos Art Museum, $1,200 to support the 2008 Biennial Student Art Exhibition.
Coos County Historical and Maritime Museum, $635 for materials for a museum exhibit on local Coos and Coquille river shipyards.
The Coquille Valley Handbell Choir, Coquille, $400 to purchase new sheet music.
Bittin Foster Duggan of Coos Bay, $1,350 to support a workshop emphasizing healing through the arts.
Scherry P. Duncan of Powers, $264 for supplies and printing in support of the Siskiyou Gateway Crafters outlet for Powers area artists and crafters.
Mental Health Association of SW Oregon dba SHAMA House, $550 for materials for a drum making class available to SHAMA members.
South Coast Community Garden Association, $500 in support of an educational signage project at Lady Bug Landing community garden in Coos Bay.
The awards were presented by Coos County Cultural Coalition Chair David Bridgham and members of the Coalition. The Coalition’s goal is to support and help strengthen arts, heritage and humanities organizations and individual artists, performers, writers, historians and scholars throughout Coos County.
